My sincerest condolences to Rhonda's family. I owned Ye Olde Music Shoppe in Dawson Creek from 1969 to 1983. In 1981 Rhonda joined my business and was accredited as an organ instructor for our Yamaha Music School. Over a couple of years she produced many great organists. My youngest daughter Lisa stated in learning of Rhonda's passing that she remembered her as being kind, gentle and very patient with all of her students. Rhonda was a very talented organist and over the two years that I had the pleasure of working with her we did numerous trade shows together with Rhonda demonstrating organs and I pianos.I moved from the Peace in 1983 and sadly had lost touch with Rhonda. She will be sadly missed and I will think of her often.

I met Rhonda back in 2010 when she came to Vancouver to take part in a course for choral conductors. She returned last summer to take it again with different clinicians, and to share with everyone her love of music. I was last in touch with her in May, when we were to welcome her to the BC Choral Federation Board as the new rep for NorthEast BC. She will be an enormous loss not only to her family and friends, but also to the wider choral community.Sincere condolences from all at the BC Choral Federation.

We learned to know Rhonda when she joined the Spruce Grove Communiity Church ministerial team and were privileged to share many times together in church and in our home. We appreciated her musical abilities and her encouragement in this area when we had so much to learn. It is difficult to express just how saddened we are that she has left so early. Tom, we weep with you and our prayers for you and family are for comfort and healing. We are reminded of good memories at Spruce and we hold on to memories and the wonderful hope of gathering around the throne. George and Ruth

Dear dear Rhonda. You were a huge part of our lives, our story. . . Right from the early days in Bible College, when you dragged me into the cloak room at Connaught Heights church, wondering who Tom (my Tom) had a date with the evening before, and your shock and embarrassment when you found out it was me! You were such a character, larger than life, impulsive, speaking your mind, but we all LOVED you for it! Watching you engage with strangers and make them feel like they were your best friend was an amazing gift - I was always a little jealous of your social abilities. And your laugh - I can still hear it - that slow "ha, ha, ha. . ." When you stopped by for the afternoon last year on June 21, we had such a fun time. We were able to pick up as if we saw each other every week. You (and God, but sometimes you liked to assist Him!) were the reason we moved to Dawson Creek, and got to know and love your thousands of relatives. That time was precious to us, and the memories are sweet.I don't think I have ever met someone who was as much of an encourager than you. And the way you developed your gifts and pursued your dreams was incredible. If I could describe you with one word, it would be PASSIONATE - about music, family, relationships, but especially about God. Our lives will have a hole with you gone. How much more so for Tom, Kara and Stephanie, your family, and your community. Our prayers go out to you all.We so wish we could have been at the service yesterday. Blessings to you all.Love, Tom and Linda Rathjen

Garth and I will remember Rhonda as a special guest in our home who prayed with us each morning before she went to her music classes at Portland State University in August 2016. She was a special person and we both shared our cancer stories and mothering experiences. She was a wonderful hostess to us just this last May and bragged to us about her beautiful daughters and their amazing lives. She was so proud of Kara and her hard work and achievements and talked about her gifting. She was also so happy for Stephanie and Timber and we were blessed to meet Stephanie. But the thing we will truly remember is how Tom and Rhonda were such a team...how they doted on each other and served us in their home and at Blueberry Farm. We are thankful that this special lady touched our lives. A life too short...she is now a member of the cloud of witnesses that will smile down on us...

I didnt know Ronda very well, but knew her from attending the same church for awhile in Grande Prairie. She was indeed a gifted musician, and somehow made it seem natural and easy! In every interaction, she came across as kind and gentle. My sincere condolences to her husband, children, parents, relatives, and friends for this sudden loss. Words are inadequate at a time like this, and understanding seems out of reach right now. We will pray for Gods Grace and peace to sustain you during this time of loss.

Rhonda was my dear cousin and friend. I was so privaliged to spend an entire day with her, just a couple days prior to her passing. Words cannot express the grief we feel. Rhonda spent the day playing with my grandkids, looking over old photos and enjoying lunch. We walked and talked and shared together. I guess it is one of Gods small mercies that we do not know what tomorrow will bring. I love you Rhonda and we will see you in Heaven!!!! Tom, Kara, Stephanie and Timber, you are loved and are so blessed to have had her for a wife and mom. Too soon gone!

Well Augustine-- after all these years you get to get your answers first. I loved spending time with you discussing heatedly all the things we were learning together in school. I loved praying with you - and I loved sitting in the van singing crazy songs. We would have done the women in ministry well together-- in fact when we got a chance it was some kind of wonderful. thanks for making trips south or east- for meeting me in Calgary or Edmonton or Grande Prairie. Thanks for introducing your sweet family to mine. I still remember you practicing 8 hours every day to get your ARTC in piano- and you still liked my plunking on a guitar and singing! I like this little angel because that really is much of who we are- Perfect in His site- but flawed in our own., Wednesday when you left us- we had been playing a words with friends game- like we often did- and you didn't respond. I knew something was wrong. I worried- and then the text from Ronna came- oh. I'm rambling-- I loved your fiercely friend - I keep singing "Throne Room" and know that somehow I am doing what you are doing right now-- and you don't seem so far away. I know (from experience) that you can't worry- and that you are looking through eternal eyes. but from this side-- the world is a bit more dreary today.

I so agree with Janice Lutsenko. I did not know Rhonda well but we through the music teachers association. I so enjoyed her time with the junior community choir. She was a star to those children. It was an amazing time - I tried to never miss a concert. Also the year they did the Christmas concert using the hospital, the Lutheran Church and one other venue I bIelieve. IT was wonderful - I cried tears of joy through much of it. When that choir entered and walked in behind the congregants - it was so powerful. She was blessed with the gift of giving and able to pass on this gift to all of us. She enriched my life. Blessings to Tom and the family - do not know you but take heart in knowing that your time with this wife and mother was special.

I have literally cried myself sick from shock and grief. The word influencer is tossed about a lot on social media but this girl was really one of my major influencers. She was four years older than I, and she was my push. I went to university because of her. I became an artist because of her faith and confidence in me. She would push me into more. I got inveigled into so many adventures and experiences because of her. She was the most relational person I know, the world could be falling about around her, but her focus was laser sharp on what you were saying. That focussed listening made you feel incredibly validated. To those in her life she was a fan. She delighted in her wonderful daughters, and she loved my kids too. She never played parental one upmanship. Rhonda was a magnificent musician( and yes I was in two of her bands when I was a teenager). Its no coincidence that two of my kids pursued music. She was what was once known as a pure heart, living in grace with no malice. She would not indulge in gossip (even when a behind the back tongue lashing was deserved). Her open hearted ness of course left her very vulnerable to being hurt. But she taught me :better to live in vulnerability in life than to close down. She tried with everyone in her life; never giving up. She left a massive legacy of grace and love.... her life made me and makes me want to be better. A couple of months ago she was helping my son Sacha pick a song out for another dear one we had lost in our family. My son was playing the piano and singing and his songs were all vetoed because Rhonda felt so passionately about the song, I Can Only Imagine by the band Mercy Me. It is a song about heaven. The song, spoke to all of us mourners and especially Rhonda . I grieve for her husband Tom and her precious girls. We have lost a rare star.

Our dear friend, Rhonda. There are many words, and yet there are no words that can fully describe this wonderful lady. She gave so much, to her family first, to the community and to her beloved piano students. Always encouraging, always putting everyone's best interests before hers and making it seem so natural. A beautiful gift. She taught our four grandchildren piano, always encouraging them to work hard, to do their best and they did....for her I am sure. She leaves a huge hole in our hearts, A friend since she was a young woman.....and most importantly of all, a friend of The Lord, her Saviour. We will meet again, but until that day, Be Still My Soul......Rest in peace, beautiful one. To Tom and Kara, Stephanie and her whole family, our deepest condolences. We weep with you, but our Hope carries us through until THAT day. Oral & Elinor

Rhonda was a dear friend who reached out to me and others in love, compassion, and generosity of spirit. Every visit was an adventure, whether just talking, studying, or finding the best gelato in Vancouver.
