I just heard about Bill and wish to express my condolences to Aaron and Laurel who he talked about when I worked with him for just less than 4 years in the late 70's. I was in my 20's and my first job with what turned out to become the Min of Environment. Bill was my supervisor and mentor in showing me the ropes. As well as the technical side of things he also taught my a lot about dealing with people. I was grateful to he and Val who let me live in their house while I was looking for a house in FSJ. We spent a lot of time driving and being from Victoria it took me 3 years before I managed to not drive off the road in winter. One time between Chetwynd and Hudson's Hope Bill woke up to find me driving in the ditch. I managed to keep going and pull it back up on the road and Bill's comment was "your driving is really improving". Rich Girard

Definetly one of the greats has passed on. I can proudly say that I was honored to have Bill stand behind me as one of the greatest bowling coaches ever!! Mom and Dad tried to get through to me, but it was the way you said You cant hit it, if you cant see it! Or the ever infamous Why dont you run a little faster?! You always called me a Putz, (a nickname I will treasure forever) mainly because I deserved it. All of those things had a hand in helping me be who I am today. I miss you so much! Until we meet again, Rest Easy with the Angels, Love You!

This is one guy that Bill never threw out of a ball game, and believe me he tried. We were in the 5th inning. The batter's chalk lines were gone. The first pitch was inside and I turned around and gave Bill the dirtiest look I could. He looked at me and calmly said "Turn around or you're out of the game." So I turned around and stepped back into the batter's box. The next pitch was even more inside. I knew I better not look at him so I drew a line in the dirt where the batter's box should be. Out of the side of my eye I saw him smile as he said "If that bat comes out of the dirt, you're out of the game." Arrgh He had me. But then I called for time. He was really smiling then and said "Take all the time you want" I drug the bat back to the dugout and told everybody "Don't pick that bat up. If you do I'm out of the game" I then took another bat and proceeded to get a base hit. Bill and I had many laughs over the years about that. Played fastball against him and had him for an ump Always respected his fair play and his winning smile. I am sure there will be many fond remembrances on the 25th. My condolences to all. Dean Davis
